Registration & Measurement at the Topper Worlds

With preparation for the Rooster International Topper Class World Championships in Loctudy well under way, registration opened early this morning and many Chinese sailors were up at the crack of dawn and rigging for an early start on the water. Not to be outdone, many British and Irish sailors promptly joined the mix, making it a great sight to see, even before the event started!

With the wind increasing as the morning progressed, the blustery conditions were a good final test for both boat setup and last-minute adjustments whilst also providing the perfect opportunity to become familiar with the race area.

Back on shore the measurement team, being watched by the parents from the comfort of the rain-proof marquee, were hard at work diligently assessing each of the boats as they passed through the validation process, with the odd failure and repair here and there.

Competitors were delighted with their Event Bibs and buffs supplied by Rooster, and also had the chance to win bags kindly provided by Sacqua, which will be of great use during the week ahead.

Registration and measurement continues tomorrow, with a practice race followed by a competitor briefing and the opening ceremony. The forecast for the rest of the week looks changeable, so it is likely sailors will be tested in all areas out on the race course, making it an interesting event… both for sailors and for parents anxiously waiting on the shore!
